Connecting with Today's Youth
Strong OST programs offer programming which reflects an
understanding of current youth trends and developments in popular
culture. This section of PhillyOST is dedicated to helping
OST staff translate their understanding of youth mentality, behavior, desires and aspirations into high quality youth experiences.
Research based information, articles, blogs as well as program practices successfully used by provider agencies in the OST community will be highlighted.
PhillyOST encourages provider agencies to utilize this section to keep learning about today's youth and the characteristics that define them,
the issues they face on a daily basis and how they define success.
SPOTLIGHT - YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
The "philosophy" of youth development serves as a transformational process aimed towards empowering practitioners to take a strengths based approach to youth programming. This year, all OST staff will participate in Introduction to Positive Development workshops, ensuring that all OST staff have an understanding of the basic concepts and principles of youth development.
