YOUTH PRACTITIONER NETWORK (YPN)
What is the youth Practitioner Network?
This Fall, PhillyOST conceived the Youth Practitioner Network (YPN). YPN was produced to provide its members, new and old to the youth development field, with the knowledge and skills needed to be effective OST staff and to give existing OST staff access to information about the knowledge and education needed to advance in the field..
The vision for YPN is to create a stable workforce for OST programs which consists of new and existing youth development professionals who understand and have the skills to work with a diverse range of children and youth. OST believes that working with young people is a high-level profession that requires an intricate and consistently refined approach to staff development. YPN will share best practices, provide opportunities for employment, and explore mentoring models..
Ideal YPN candidates new to the youth development field are educators, teachers, youth workers, researchers, program managers, and individuals with a desire to work with young people in grades K-12. YPN members will participate in learning modules and practice sessions informed by the National After School Association (NAA) competencies.
